How I found my happiness- 5 Tips to find happiness

Happiness is a state of mind, a feeling you have when you feel happy.

My Happiness:

The day was going normally for me I come back from school and went to my room after getting some snacks from the kitchen. I played some games on my laptop while eating the snacks. In between eating I get a message from someone in my class who was absent at that time. He asked me if he could borrow an exercise book from me as he was lost by his mom recently and he urgently needed it to study for tomorrow’s test. As we were studying together before exams started, I readily agreed and told him I would bring it the next day at school during lunch break.

It Was Friday- It was already 2 pm which meant the school had been over for about an hour. I got up from my bed and decided to go buy the exercise book so he could study for the test tomorrow properly. I went straight to his house after coming home. He lived in a really poor neighborhood with lots of shops around it most of which were all blacksmith shops. There was also an old temple nearby that was surrounded by many beggars who ask for money, food, or water every now and then among them there were some children as well begging near the temple entrance who seem too young to beg others just for their survival they might be working under someone’s order or forced to do so, either way, they are still kids not more than 8 years old.

I saw a mom with her child standing next to the temple entrance. She was wearing a dirty saree with her hair unkempt and like most of the beggars had some sores on her face probably due to an illness she was suffering for several days.

They were sitting next to some people who were also begging but had some tattered clothes. The mom had some wounds on both of her legs near the knees which were oozing blood slowly as if someone or something hurt them badly making them bleed heavily, she tried to cover the wound with any cloth that would fit on that place including torn pieces of cloths from other beggars who had more than one piece of clothing. Her child was looking really hungry since he had no food for about two days now and neither did his mom.

I gave her a crisp 100 rupee note I had in my pocket and bent down to the young boy asking his name. He answered me with a smile, his name was Raj. Raj’s mom came forward as she saw me handing over some money to him and asked if they can have more as it wouldn’t be enough for two days as the amount was not even half of what they needed for one day. She said that if they would get more from me, she would buy food for both herself and son at least tonight so he won’t lack any food and could keep studying without any distractions.

I had only about 300 rupees on me after buying the exercise book at first but had another 200 which I originally planned on giving to them initially but seeing the kid’s smile I felt like giving all of my money to them instead. So, I gave them another 200 rupees and told her to take a rest for two days as it was the weekend now. She bowed her head slightly in thanks and started walking inside the temple after thanking me profusely for helping them out even though not much.

I walked back home with happiness on my face feeling really happy knowing that I could help someone today made me feel really good about myself, like how good it feels when you do something nice for others without expecting anything in return you just want to have someone else happiness because you can or simply because you are able enough to do so then why not use these opportunities whenever they occur?

I was in my thoughts until I reach home and open the door to everyone sitting at the dining table eating dinner; they were surprise to see me back so soon. My mother asked me where I went as it was already 3 pm now and she thought I would come back by 5 or 6 pm later since school got over much earlier today.

I told her that one of my classmates needed something urgently that’s why I left school early but didn’t tell her what exactly he wanted from me. Then my mom gave me food to eat which tasted really bad like overcooked roti (Indian bread) with some green chutney which only a hungry person who had no other option of having proper food would’ve eaten.

Conclusion:

I wish I could have helped them more to find happiness. This is the end of the story, if you like it or even dislike this post please leave a comment on Reddit as it would help me to improve as well as motivate me to write such stories in the future.
