How to Find Cheap Rental Cars in Any City You Travel To This Year for the Holidays

It’s no surprise to anyone that the cost of traveling by plane, trains and automobiles is very expensive this year. Supposedly it costs an average family $200 or so per ticket for a one way flight from Los Angeles to New York City. If you’re taking your entire family and plan on travelling by train, well then you could be spending upwards of $1,000 just for transportation. With gas prices hitting an all time high in America we can’t expect budget travel prices anytime soon either. So what do we do if we want to save money but still enjoy our holiday vacations as much as possible? Well as any good bargain hunter would know…the answer is always RENTAL CARS!

Here is how you can do it:

  • Step One – Go to Cheap tickets and search the entire United States for rental cars in your holiday destination (i.e. Boston, Miami, and New Orleans etc). Always make sure that you check the “weekend rates” box because during peak travel times like Thanksgiving and Christmas prices go up significantly on Fridays and Saturdays; I promise you this will make a big difference. As an example we checked NYC and found 1-2 day rentals from $30/day all the way to $110/day.
  • Step Two – Once you’ve figured out what cities have cheapest deals available. This site shows all of the different airport locations where you’re going to be picking up your rental vehicle. From there you can do a bit of research to see which company has the best deal at the time, or if they have any coupon codes for discounts.
  • Step Three – Lastly, before you click on your rental car location just make sure that you’re not automatically getting charged for “toll fees” and “mileage”. You never want to get hit with hidden charges after you already find a great deal! So here’s what I usually do when renting cars in NYC. Take my pick from one of three different companies (Avis, Budget or Hertz) and then go directly to their website. That way we know we’re getting all of our bases covered and taking advantage of every discount possible!

One quick FYI, always check the mileage! Most rental cars in America have unlimited mileage so don’t worry about going over. If you do, however, go over your limit be sure to let them know when you return the car and they will adjust it accordingly promise.

Wherever you decide to travel this holiday season I hope that my tips help save a little bit of money on transportation costs. The best part is that from now until January 15th Cheaptickets.com is offering 20% off all rentals worldwide because “2010” and they’re matching competitor prices too. So if you want to take advantage of cheap flights and discount Rental Cars then I definitely recommend checking out their website today for huge savings!!!

How to Find Cheap Holiday Rentals – Cheaptickets.com Courtesy of: BargainHunter424 Bargaining Tips for Travelers You are at the bargaining table seeking to buy or rent a car with your low ball offer and the sales person is not budging from his or her high price. You’ve already looked online and you know that if you book with this rental agency you will be paying too much money so what do you do? Here is my advice: 1. when I go out to bargain for anything with someone who owns their own business I simply tell them, “Give me $30 off and we have a deal”. Let’s say they look at me like they offended by such an offer and proceed to say no. Well, guess what! I just saved myself $30, walk away knowing that you have your lower price and live to fly another day! 2.

If the car rental sales person tells you that they can give you a better deal if you book online, simply tell them “I don’t think so”. My friends and family who travel often will always book their cars at the counter because they know that the deals are better even with a luggage fee. You should definitely ask for this luggage fee waiver too because if not then it’s basically a hidden cost. Where as if booked at the counter they already should have factored this into their special advertised price to begin with.

Conclusion:

This is definitely my favorite way to save money on car rentals because you don’t need any coupons and it never expires. I hope this rental car tip helps make your travel more affordable and cheaper than ever before!
