People Who Do Not Need Any More Home Decor Stuff in Their Life vs. People Who Are Going to Die from Boredom if they Don’t Get Any more Home Decor Stuff

Home decor is one of those things that tend to divide people.

  • On one side you have the “I’m fine with my house looking like it was furnished by a thrift store” kind, and on the other are the “I wish I could just live in an Ikea catalogue to be honest” group.
  • Home decor is a funny thing; it’s a way in which people express their love for a place they live in. They can’t put their heart and soul into an apartment where they only see the walls because there are twelve other people living there (sadly, I’m speaking from experience), but when you rent an actual house or get your own bedroom to do whatever you want with, you get to express yourself; Your personality will shine through your home decor style.
  • I know that some of you may disagree with this article (and if so, please let me know why!), but I like to think that most people agree that home decor is indeed important. So read on and explore the different types of decoration lovers out there; you may even learn something!
  • Everyone has seen the classic Ikea catalogue. It is loved by many, but also hated by many; you can’t please everyone after all. This person who will be thrilled to find every single product listed in the catalogue waiting for them after they open their front door, and then go out to buy an extra pack of batteries just because it was on sale.
  • This type of person may appear to be a shopaholic at first glance, but let’s put it this way; they don’t really love shopping for clothes or shoes because they only like wearing the same thing over and over again (AKA black T-shirts and jeans). Their home decor tastes are what make them tick though. If they could live on the ground floor of an Ikea store they would, quite literally.
  • The first thing this person does after seeing a movie is visiting the local IKEA website to see if any new storage units came into stock recently (Thank god for working from home). Even though they might be obsess with buying more things, they are not hoarders. Because everything has its place or will have its own once it’s brought home. They are extremely organize people with OCD tendencies who can’t stand looking at messy homes.
  • This type of decoration lover is the one you want to move next door to your house, trust me on that one.
  • If there was ever a stereotype about nerds being clean freaks that would be this person right here. They spend their first paycheck on a tiny, weird and utterly useless gadget and their second one on paint. They may not decorate the outside of their home as much because it is usually in an inconvenient location (hello in-laws). But every wall, corner and flat surface in there will be decorating with something geeky.
  • This person can find beauty in anything that’s black and white or has Dr Who written all over it. If this person is also into photography they might put up huge prints of movie scenes or original artwork related to their favorite movies/shows/manga/video games etc. The sheer amount of stuff they own would be enough for an IKEA visit, but since they are picky when it comes to what they like you will usually see them painting their favorite characters on canvases or making something that no one else would ever dream of.
  • This person is extremely passionate about the things they love, and it shows in every aspect of life; they will do whatever it takes to defend their obsession if someone questions it. You can try arguing with this person by telling them that your movie/book/game is better than theirs, but you won’t win because they know everything there is to know about all those things (seriously, don’t piss them off).
  • Be aware that once they find their “true love” fandom they may upgrade you to best friend status if you share the same feelings for it as well. Cherish this moment because these people are incredibly rare.
  • This person hates shopping for clothes almost as much as the classic Ikea hunter, but they hate home decor even more. They may walk past a mirror and not even notice it exists because all their focus is on the floor, wall or ceiling that’s in dire need of decoration. Their homes may seem empty and bare at first glance, but if you look closer you will see some original features related to their interests hidden among empty walls and sparseness.
  • The living room might fill with some cool paintings made by this person while they were still in high school. All of them depicting scenes from Lord of the Rings or Harry Potter, because looking at different landscapes weren’t enough for them apparently. This type of decoration lover can easily spend a full day painting a co splay outfit and another one building a life-sized replica of Darth Vader out of cardboard.

Conclusion:

Don’t let anyone tell you that nerds can’t enjoy life, because they can and do it better than most people. These three types of decoration lovers will make your home a better place but might turn your relationship into a serious commitment if you’re not careful with Home Decor.

Remember: Nerds are passionate about the things they love and even more when talking about them.
