Other unique reptiles include Liopholis socotrana skink, Hemidactylus robustussowi gecko, and Emoia nativaocarinata lacertid. Ten species of land mammals have been recorded on the island including an endemic subspecies of the Arabian leopard. Unique bird species on Socotra include the socotra starling, Calandre lark, and Benguela sparrowhawk. The island has some spectacular beaches including DiHamri which are covered with black volcanic sand.
