The China-United States Trade War Could Trigger a Real War Situation Observes Kissinger

For almost the last two years, the China and United States conflict has dominated the financial and economic scenario. That too with good reason. During this time, the two largest economies in the world have been involved in an incredibly grave tariff war with these two nations. It finds difficult to come to a consensus despite many negotiations. That was reported not even a week back that Liu He, China’s Vice-Premier and also a top-notch negotiation specialist on trade told Henry Kissinger, former US state secretary in Beijing that the U.S.A. and China must consider a resolution of their economic disputes. It was on predominantly the principles of mutual benefit, mutual respect, and equality.

We understand that Liu was one of the many senior Chinese bureaucrats including President Xi Jinping, to set up a meeting with the US diplomat during his Beijing trip. Meanwhile, Xi met Kissinger on Thursday and he suggested that Washington and Beijing should consider accurately assessing one another’s strategic intentions in the midst of escalating trade tensions.

According to Henry Kissinger

The top former American Diplomat said that World War I had started just because of a minor conflict or crisis. We must, however, admit that war weapons are more sophisticated and powerful today. According to the former US Secretary of State, armed conflict may be sparked off between the two nations if they failed in resolving their trade war. Kissinger has contributed a lot towards minimizing the conflict between China and the United States of America. It normalizing the situation to a great extent. While talking on the future of both these economic giants it was conveyed that if the conflict is allowed to carry on unrestrained, you could encounter worse consequences as compared to the one in Europe.

Tensions Escalating on the Diplomatic Circuit

It has been reported earlier that tensions seemed to be flaring up on the diplomatic circuit. Beijing is reported to have criticized Washington over America’s naval operations relating to the South China Sea disputes. On the other hand, the U.S.A. criticized China for the mass detention decision of the Uighurs. Moreover, China expressed its disappointment at the US Congress for supporting the cause of the pro-democracy protesters based in Hong Kong. Meanwhile, during his visit to Beijing, the noted diplomat is believed to have said that “China is a major economic country. And so are we, and so we are bound to step on each other’s toes all over the world.” He further said that at the time of the Cold War between the Soviet Union and the United States, it was given top priority to reduction or minimizing the nuclear capacity of these two nations.

Time to Ease off the Rivalry

However, since previous conflicts between these two nations have been passive all the time. Kissinger cautioned that there seems to be no framework for dealing with Beijing in its capacity as a military authority and power. So, this should be a cause of concern for the United States as it is lacking in any long-term premeditated framework. However, China has no reason to worry as it is not devoid of a strategic framework. He further warned that if these two nations keep viewing every issue as a conflict then it could prove to be quite hazardous for mankind. Meanwhile, we have seen that the United States-China rivalry doesn’t seem to be easing off. It is believed to be getting even worse and that should keep the business fraternity on edge.
